If you see Michael B. Jordan in the street, you can call out "Vince," the character he has played on Friday Night Lights for the last two seasons, or "Alex," the character he has played on Parenthood for the last season, or "Wallace," the character he played on The Wire 10 years ago, or "Mike"—his actual name—and Jordan will answer to any one. If you call him too early in the morning, however, he might still be sleeping and he won't answer at all. Considering Jordan has been in filming a feature in South Africa, his jet-lagged sleep schedule is understandable.
Acting since he became a teenager, 25-year-old Jordan has made an indelible impact on television with the above-mentioned roles as well as long-running characters on All My Children and The Assistants, and more recently on Lie to Me. Jordan's compelling turn in these parts has propelled him to the big screen. At the start on 2012 he will be starring in Chronicle and in Redtails alongside Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard.

Eva McKend Chops It Up With Michael B Jordan, The "Actor Of Her Generation"
Michael Bakari Jordan’s success lies in his unique ability to bring parts of himself into each of his characters. The result is magnetic and has produced fan favorites like Wallace from the critically acclaimed epic “The Wire” and Vince Howard from the also esteemed “Friday Night Lights.” As intrinsic as his faculties may be, Jordan does not take his career for granted. When he moved to Los Angeles, he faced the 2007 Writer’s Strike and the subsequent dearth of auditions but this never crushed his spirit or his persistence. “I’ve been blessed to continuously work and mature with my craft,” he explained in a phone interview with The Phoenix.

Mike's currently in Africa (above) working on something that he apparently wants to keep under wraps. Him & Tristan Wilds are two of a kind. Whatever it is though, I am sure it will be worth the wait.

Michael B. Jordan joins Dane DeHaan in teen sci-fi thriller “Chronicle”
Sci-fi thriller “Chronicle” has apparently completed casting on its trio of leads, as Variety reports that relatively unknown young actors Michael B. Jordan and Alex Russell have joined Dane DeHaan in the Fox project.
The story centers around three Portland teenagers who are exposed to a mysterious substance in the woods and subsequently develop superpowers. They begin to work together to hone their new skills but soon find themselves turning on each other. Though Variety doesn’t specify, presumably DeHaan, Jordan and Russell will play the teenagers. Fox bought the Max Landis script last August and Josh Trank, who will be making his directorial debut, will shoot the film documentary style in the vein of “Paranormal Activity” or “Cloverfield”.
Jordan (no relation to that basketball player you may have heard of) was a series regular on the last two seasons of critically acclaimed NBC series “Friday Night Lights” and recently completely filming indie “Red Tails”. Russell only has a few small indies under his belt – mostly in his native Australia, including the buzzy “Wasted on the Young” and shark attack thriller “Bait” opposite “Twilight” star Xavier Samuel. “Chronicle” will mark his American studio debut.

Interview: WTAM Interview w/ Michael B Jordan
Below is an excerpt from the interview on Red Tails.
IHR: Before we go, I want to talk about a movie you shot called Redtails. You worked with some pretty big names on that, right?
Michael: It's about the Tuskegee Airmen in World War II. I play a new recruit, fresh out of flight school, and I'm thrown into the war. To get to work with Cuban Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, Bryan Cranston, Rick Otto, David Oyelowo, Nate Parker, Ne-Yo, Jazmine Sullivan; I mean the list goes on...George Lucas, Rick McCallum. For me to work with so many people that I look up to since such an early stage in my career, it was just mind blowing. It completely raised the bar for me as far as my goals and what's reachable. You dream big, and then once the big dreams are accomplished, it's like, 'Damn, now I gotta dream bigger than this. I was like a sponge on set. I really just soaked up a lot, learning a lot from everybody.

Snubbed....AGAIN!
If you've been visiting this blog for a while, then maybe you'll remember how bothered I was by Mike being snubbed by the NAACP Image Awards last year. Well apparently they snubbed him again. I was even more bothered by this because his FNL castmate (a black Hollywood favorite) got a nom for her performance on the show she didn't get as much screen time (compared to Mike) on. You would think a show like this would recognize black talent when they saw it, but there's politricks with this award show as well.

Michael B. Jordan in Complex Magazine
“I’m actually named after my dad, who’s older than the Michael Jordan from North Carolina. I thought about changing my name for a while, but one of the plusses is I can get any dinner reservation I want, anywhere. And growing up, casting directors always remembered my name. It was always a talking point…. BUT I GOT HUNG UP ON SO MANY TIMES ordering pizza in New York. They always thought I was prank calling. Like, ‘What apartment? Twenty-three?’ Then they’d hang up on me.”

Video: Lie To Me: Season 3 Episode 8: Smoked (Full Episode)
Michael said on Twitter last night that he has a recurring role on the show. I'm watching it as I type, but I heard Larry Gilliard (D'angelo Barksdale) is on this show as well. Now, Lie To Me has joined the list of shows like Law & Order and CSI that the actors from The Wire have guest starred in. You can view Maestro Harrell (Randy Wagstaff) in his episode of the show here. I've fallen behind on watching Mike on Friday Night Lights, and I think I am one episode behind with Parenthood. He's doing really well with having a recurring role with 3 different TV shows. Good job Mike!
